Who We Are

Love’s Over-Rated was born in 2007 from short stories and journals by lead singer/guitarist Joe Potente’s first year of sobriety from alcoholism, written as a form of therapy. Having been a musician for over half his life at that point, the tales quickly started becoming songs in an autobiographical theme that were telling pieces of a much larger story. The songs they produce are often ambiguously written and are open for interpretation. Ultimately they are celebrations of life wrapped in a good time rock/pop/punk package that makes them comparable to bands like Lit, Social Distortion, and Therapy? while their roots were inspired by mega groups like Def Leppard, Metallica, and GN’R.

Currently they’re working on follow up music to their 2021 self titled EP forecasting releases in the spring, summer, and fall. Their calendar is also filling up with shows throughout the tri-state area, with plans in the works to travel to other parts of the US. In June of 2023 they will be competing in the Point Pleasant Beach Battle of The Bands, and have been in rotation on radio stations in the tri-state, Florida and Nashville.

Consisting of Joe Potente Lead Vocals/Guitar, Josue Jaramillo Bass/Vocals, David Bonavito Drums/Vocals, and Oscar Torres Guitar/Vocals Love’s Over-Rated live performances are filled with high energy, fun packed music incorporating influences from the greatest past and present rock bands.
